An eisteddfod with adifference
Allegretto began in South Africa as the Allegretto Inter Provincial Eisteddfod, giving performers of every age a stage to compete in speech and drama, vocal, instrumental, dance, theatre and visual arts. Built on the belief that every performer deserves a fair, encouraging and professionally adjudicated platform, Allegretto has grown into a nationwide program run through local hosting centres and Area Representatives across all nine provinces.
Allegretto is now expanding beyond South Africa for the first time, with a dedicated program for entrants in the United States opening for its inaugural season in 2027. The USA program carries the same values — professional adjudication, constructive feedback and categories for every kind of performer — adapted for a new audience while staying part of one international Allegretto family.
